Dental Dream Food: Say CHEESE

>> Monday, December 15, 2008

The Australian Dental Association (ADA) had suggested parents should give young children should be given more cheese to help fight tooth decay. Cheese is rich in calcium which is good for the teeth and bones but besides this cheese also has Casein which is a special ingredient in cheese and it helps combat the effects of corrosive plaques acids, assists the prevention of tooth decay and helps repair teeth with early decay.

It stimulates the production of saliva which in turns neutralizes plaque acids. The combination of casein, calcium and phosphorus contained in cheese is credited with helping to lessen bacteria and also the softening of the enamel which is the first stage of decay.

ADA even suggested that this not only meant for children but for adults alike. One should eat cheese after meal at least once a day; make it a substitute for sugary snacks and sweet cakes for desert.
